Project Info
Project name: The Wilds
Developer: Aldar Properties in collaboration with Dubai Holding
Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Architect: Nabil Gholam Architects
Aldar Properties, in collaboration with Dubai Holding, has introduced The Wilds, a pioneering masterplan in Dubai reimagining suburban living through a deep-rooted connection with nature. Centered around the concept of a woodland sanctuary, this development aims to weave nearly 1,700 residences into a biodiverse, sensory-rich fabric that promotes coexistence with the natural world.

"The Nest" pavilion stands out in the woodland, serving as a community hub and a bridge to nature
The Nest: Architecture as Ecological Threshold
At the heart of The Wilds stands The Nest, a striking timber-lined pavilion nestled amid the woodland canopy. More than an architectural statement, The Nest serves as both a visual landmark and communal gathering point—acting as a bridge between built environment and living ecosystem. Within, children can explore and learn through immersive zones dedicated to observing local birds, insects, and other wildlife, fostering environmental curiosity from an early age.
Homes Interwoven with Ecology
Scattered throughout the masterplan are residences of diverse scales - from apartments to three to six-bedroom villas and mansions designed by Nabil Gholam - that blend seamlessly into their forested surroundings. Each dwelling sits within eco-corridors and dense planting zones, offering privacy while reinforcing the development’s immersive biophilic ethos.
Multispecies Infrastructure: A Living Community
The Wilds proudly showcases one of the most ecologically diverse residential communities in the emirate. It integrates habitat-building features - such as duck houses, bird nests, beehives, and insect hotels - not as hidden ecological afterthoughts but as visible symbols of harmonious human-nature coexistence. This deliberate approach encourages continual engagement with biodiversity right from one’s doorstep.
Landscape as Climate-Responsive Design
The design’s landscape extends beyond aesthetics to address environmental stewardship. A network of ponds, dry streambeds, and opportunistic lawns serve a dual role - managing stormwater and cooling microclimates while inviting spontaneous playful exploration for residents. These features reflect a climate-sensitive philosophy, as seen in the masterplan’s commitment to ecological regeneration.

Holistic Amenities and Wellness Integration
Beyond ecological features, The Wilds is crafted to be a self-sustaining, family-centric village. Residents will find:
+ A premium international school with outdoor learning environments integrated into the landscape.
+ Essentials like a retail hub, clinic, nursery, clubhouses, and two mosques.
+ Active lifestyle facilities including tennis, padel, basketball courts, fitness zones, shaded wellness pavilions, meditation spaces, resort-style pools, and cocoon hammocks.
+ Extensive walking and cycling trails weaving through the greenery, with rest stops that invite mindfulness and community connection.

Bold Credentials: Sustainability & Wellness Leadership
The Wilds is the first community in the UAE to earn both the LEED Platinum and Fitwel 3‑Star certifications - the highest accolades for environmental sustainability and human health respectively, underscoring Aldar’s commitment to responsible, wellness-oriented development.
Jonathan Emery, CEO of Aldar Development, emphasizes that this is not just a housing project—but a nurturing ground where "people and nature will live and grow together," especially through environments that foster children’s curiosity and well-being.
