A Look at Asia’s Architectural Standouts (2023 - 2025)
In 2023, The Earth House—a 3,000-square-foot sustainable residence in Vadodara, India by Art and Architecture Associates, led by Archy Bhatt—earned Best Residential Architecture Design – Landed Housing at the Asia Architecture Design Awards. Constructed with thick rammed-earth walls and gabion stone boundaries, it blends seamlessly with its surroundings while ensuring privacy. Designed for near net-zero performance, it features solar heat reduction, natural ventilation, on-site power generation, rainwater harvesting, and food cultivation, offering a replicable model that fuses traditional craftsmanship with contemporary sustainability.
Winner of 2023 Asia Architecture Design Awards (AADA) - The Earth House (by Art and Architecture Associates)
The 2024 Best Architecture Design award went to Library in the Earth, designed by Hiroshi Nakamura & NAP for KURKKU FIELDS in Chiba, Japan. This subterranean library restores the valley’s natural slope and is cloaked in greenery, drawing daylight through a central circular aperture. Housing 3,000 books focused on agriculture and nature, it is both an intimate space for reflection and a statement of ecological stewardship—embodying AADA’s “Influential Asia” ethos through sustainable, nature-integrated design.

In 2025, The Seoul Robot & AI Museum (RAIM) by Melike Altınışık Architects, with WITHWORKS, was honored as Asia’s Best Commercial Building Architecture Design. Spanning 7,400 m², its futuristic spherical form—crafted using robot welding and laser CNC machining—showcases cutting-edge construction methods. Inside, immersive exhibitions examine the cultural, ethical, and human dimensions of AI, cementing RAIM’s place as the world’s first museum dedicated to robotics and artificial intelligence and a bold symbol of architecture’s role in shaping the future.
