In the coastal town of Guidel, Brittany, a new chapter in mobile living is taking shape. Founded in 2024 by craftsman Ambroise Humeau, Tiny Binocles blends traditional carpentry with contemporary ecological principles to create compact, mobile homes defined by their distinctive twin round windows and bio-based construction. Each house is a fusion of artisanal precision and sustainable innovation, designed for those seeking freedom without environmental compromise.
A Signature of Circular Vision
The round “binocle” windows - a playful reference to binoculars - are more than an aesthetic signature. They flood interiors with daylight, enable cross-ventilation, and offer carefully framed views of the landscape. This design choice captures Tiny Binocles’ guiding ethos: homes should connect deeply with their surroundings while maintaining a minimal ecological footprint. Humeau, who honed his craft with the Compagnons du Tour de France and in Switzerland, draws inspiration from boatbuilding techniques, emphasizing compactness, efficiency, and durability.

Compact Designs, Crafted for Life
The Binocles series currently includes six variations, each designed to balance livability with mobility.
+ Grand-Duc (22.18 sqm) features two mezzanines and can comfortably house up to six people.
+ Lapone (17.39 sqm) offers a single-level, step-free layout for greater accessibility.
+ Chevêchette (12.94 sqm) delivers an ultra-compact solution ideal for two occupants.
Each model rests on a 3.5-ton trailer, making it legally towable with a standard European B(E) license. In addition, Tiny Binocles offers the Classiques collection, which reinterprets the same sustainable principles in more conventional architectural forms.

Rooted in Ecology and Craft
From structure to finish, Tiny Binocles embodies responsible materiality. Local timber from regional forests forms the structural framework, while insulation made from bio-based fibers replaces petrochemical alternatives. Surfaces are protected with natural oils, allowing the wood to breathe and age gracefully without synthetic coatings. Every detail - joinery, sealing, insulation - reflects a commitment to craftsmanship as an ecological act.

A Nomadic Future
Unveiled at the 2025 Grande Expo du Morbihan in Vannes and the Foire Internationale de Bordeaux, the first prototypes drew attention for their harmonious blend of function, form, and sustainability. Beyond offering a new mode of living, Tiny Binocles invites a shift in mindset - toward homes that are light on the land, rich in character, and adaptable to change.
With its combination of modular design, bio-based construction, and a distinct architectural identity, Tiny Binocles envisions a future where mobility and environmental consciousness coexist - where a home, however small, can still hold the depth of craft and the freedom of the open road.
