Set on a secluded archipelago in the Red Sea, Shebara Resort emerges as a striking fusion of futuristic form and ecological sensitivity. The resort’s architecture by Killa Design and interiors by Studio Paolo Ferrari transforms pristine island terrain into a visionary escape. Rather than disrupting the natural landscape, the design aims to harmonize with it through reflective materials, water-borne villas, and a self-sustaining infrastructure that honours both luxury and nature.
Polished steel reflects the environment, dematerializing the architecture
The most striking feature is the cluster of overwater villas shaped as gleaming stainless-steel orbs. Each orb rests lightly above the waves, with facades that mirror the sky and sea. These pod-like villas form a floating necklace across the lagoon, an image that evokes both surreal minimalism and organic elegance. As sunlight shifts throughout the day, the mirrored surfaces shift too, capturing the changing moods of the Red Sea and blending built form into its environment.
Infinity pools extend living space over the sea and horizon
Inside each villa the challenge of curved geometry and mirrored exteriors demanded a deeply thoughtful interior strategy. The design team developed custom furnishings that follow the soft curves of walls and ceilings. Sofas, beds, and joinery evolve from the spherical shell in gentle, fluid lines that maintain comfort and coherence despite the unconventional architecture. Walls clad in leather with bronze inlays, vaulted ceilings, and glass-topped tables create an atmosphere that feels both futuristic and tactile.
Natural stone and chrome create a luxurious, tactile sanctuary
Outdoor terraces and infinity pools extend each villa into water and light. Sliding glass doors erase the threshold between interior and exterior, allowing guests to taste the sea breeze, absorb sea reflections, and feel the subtle rhythm of tides. This seamless indoor-outdoor relationship defines the resort’s spirit: architecture that does not dominate but accompanies nature.
Bespoke furniture follows the shell's curve, ensuring fluid interiors
Sustainability lies at the core of Shebara’s identity. The resort runs entirely on an on-site solar farm. Seawater is desalinated for fresh water while rainwater is harvested and reused. Waste management operates under a circular system to minimise environmental impact. These systems together support a net-zero goal for energy and water, showing that luxury and ecological responsibility can coexist harmoniously.
Organic furniture avoids rigid lines, mirroring the spherical form
The resort offers a variety of accommodations beyond the floating pods. Beachfront villas echo the same design language but with larger outdoor terraces and direct access to shore. More exclusive ensembles - designed for privacy and indulgence - occupy their own small islets. These units expand the concept while preserving the same elegance and connection to the natural surroundings.
Sculptural joinery adds futuristic detailing to the soft, curved walls
Public spaces such as spa pavilions, wellness zones, and recreation areas complement the villa experience. Designed with the same sensitivity as the private accommodations, these spaces combine modern comfort with minimal environmental footprint. Every social core, from vitality pools to yoga decks, is positioned to respect marine life, coral reefs, and surrounding dune ecosystems.
